George Jones and Jesus Blessed Our Thanksgiving Dinner

For the 12th year in row, Melissa and I headed up to Southern Illinois for Thanksgiving. We have a sidekick now that makes the trip more entertaining, and she makes the holidays more special for all of us. Just before Thanksgiving dinner I told my 21-month-old daughter Presley that we were going to say the blessing and talk to Jesus, she replied, “George Jones.” I think I need to start playing her a bigger variety of music!
I had a gig up in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I got the old band together for this one. Everything went really well, and I was proud of how my old buddies played the songs from my new soon to be released CD, “Back In The New School.” I also slipped back into the bar room days a bit and did some Hag and Vern Gosdin. Anyway, we had a great night. Christmas time’s a comin’ so we’ll be back in So. Illinois in a few weeks. I guess I better get me another gig booked to cover Christmas presents. Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving.
